“Shine here to us, and thou art every where;
This bed thy center is, these walls, thy spheare.”

   – John Donne

In the meeting of our eyes
we knew it,
this other we’ve become:

this separate more inclusive one –
a relation larger more expansive,
speaking to us inside this sphere;

disconnected from our former lives
we link each to the other in this sensual realm,
touching what cannot be touched, withdrawn;

yet, touching us by other means
than these soft caressing’s that ensnare us

    • Yea, John… the gift of poetry comes from a confrontation with that heritage, it’s an agon with not against the great ones both female and male… one goes to both Simonades and Sappho to drink from that fountain… from there all others follow… and, of course, that doesn’t even begin to shake the leaf from all those vast cultures from China, South East Asia, the Steppes, Middle-East, Africa…. so much greatness to be discovered and sung forward… into our songs
